Advancing Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) using Network Interoperability through the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA)
Electronic case reporting (eCR) is the automated generation and transmission of case reports from electronic health record (EHR) systems to public health agencies (PHAs) for review and action. eCR allows for more timely and complete patient data to be shared across healthcare and public health and reduces burden of manual case reporting.

TEFCA Update from ONC's TEFCA Recognized Coordinating Entity
In 2023, the ONC and The Sequoia Project, as the Recognized Coordinating Entity, announced TEFCA was operational, and designated the nation’s first Qualified Health Information Networks to begin exchanging patient data. How was this federally endorsed framework for a “network of networks” developed, and what’s next? The speakers will review the current scope and requirements of TEFCA, and plans for the future.

Overview: ONC's HTI-1 Final Rule
HHS’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) published its HTI-1 final rule to the Federal Register on January 9, 2024, with an effective date of February 8, 2024. HTI-1 implements provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act and makes updates to the ONC Health IT Certification Program including new and updated standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria.

TEFCA/FHIR Roadmap & CA Version 2.0
The TEFCA became operational in December 2023, marking a major milestone for nationwide health data exchange. The TEFCA Recognized Coordinating Entity® (RCE™), The Sequoia Project, also released the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) Roadmap for TEFCA Exchange Version 2.0 to guide the industry on the implementation of FHIR exchange within TEFCA.
